Coordinate the Building Work

Property security, water damage, structural support, and repairs need a defined sequence.

A structure-fire project can involve exposed openings, standing or absorbed suppression water, soot, damaged building materials, and temporary support needs. The facilities manager needs to know who controls access, which work TRC is assigned, and which decisions require other responsible parties.

01

Close exposed openings

TRC can board up openings to help secure the property when that work is included. The scope should identify the openings, access arrangements, and responsibility for any additional perimeter controls.

02

Address suppression water as its own scope

Extraction and structural drying can proceed as part of the agreed water-damage work. That work does not decide occupancy, structural condition, or the final removal scope.

03

Coordinate support and removal decisions

TRC can perform in-house shoring and selective removal included in the agreement. Required professional direction is handled case by case, and TRC does not replace authority or design decisions.

Structure Fire Project Sequence

Secure the openings, address water, define removal, and rebuild.

One accountable team from mitigation to rebuild.

01

Confirm access and close exposed openings.

Begin with areas released by fire officials for the proposed work. TRC can board up included openings to help secure the property and coordinate site access with the designated facility contact.

02

Extract and dry suppression water.

Work performed to IICRC S500 standards applies to included extraction and structural drying. The water-damage scope is documented separately from decisions about occupancy, structural condition, or material removal.

03

Define shoring and selective removal.

We assess and document structural damage. TRC can perform in-house shoring and remove damaged materials included in the agreed scope. Qualified professional direction or sign-off is handled case by case when required.

04

Manage the included building repairs.

TRC can coordinate reconstruction work included in the agreement after the mitigation and removal scopes are defined. The owner, carrier, authorities, and qualified professionals retain their separate review and decision roles.

Before Structure-Fire Work Begins

Establish access, property control, and responsible contacts.

Give TRC the current restrictions and decision-makers for the released work areas.

Identify the released work areas.

Follow fire-official restrictions and tell TRC which areas are available for the proposed assessment and work.

Report exposed openings and access points.

Identify doors, windows, roof openings, and other entry points that may belong in the board-up discussion.

Point out visible suppression water.

Show TRC the observed water locations and identify known utility restrictions without entering restricted areas or changing building systems.

Structure Fire Responsibilities

Commercial structure-fire restoration questions.

TRC can close included openings to help secure the property. The agreement should identify the openings, access arrangements, and any perimeter or monitoring responsibilities assigned to others.

Yes. TRC can perform in-house shoring when it is included in the agreed work. Required professional direction or sign-off is handled case by case, and shoring work does not transfer authority for access or structural decisions to TRC.

TRC documents the observed damage and develops an agreed removal scope with the responsible project parties. Material removal does not by itself determine structural condition, claim approval, or the work required by a qualified professional.

Yes. TRC can manage building repairs included in the agreement while authorities and qualified professionals retain their separate decision roles.
